Operational updates

Delays in Air Freight to South Greenland

Several operational disruptions caused by weather-related and technical challenges over the past three weeks have resulted in significant delays in air freight to South Greenland and a major backlog of cargo.

In the coming days, air cargo delivery times may continue to be longer because we are simultaneously working to get affected passengers to their destinations. Passenger traffic is prioritized, and when flights have many passengers on board, cargo capacity is limited.

We are working to deliver the backlog of cargo as quickly as possible under the current circumstances.

We apologize for the delays and thank you for your understanding and patience.

Limited hotel capacity in Ilulissat, Nuuk and Qaqortoq

This means that, unfortunately, Air Greenland is unable to offer hotel accommodation to all affected passengers under a disruptiom.

We therefore urge travellers to arrange their own accommodation. Hotel expenses can subsequently be claimed for a refund by submitting a receipt to Air Greenland’s customer service via the contact form. https://kundeservice.airgreenland.gl/hc/da/requests/new

Please note that it may take a few weeks to process refund applications.

We are aware that this may affect travellers’ plans, and we apologise for this.

We are working to ensure that everyone reaches their destinations.

Information about air traffic to and from Ilulissat in the period 15 June – 1 September

Greenland Airports is currently installing a new antenna at Ilulissat Airport during the period from week 25 to week 41 (15 June – 6 Oktober).

Learn more here

This work means that Air Greenland’s Dash 8 aircraft will need to operate under stricter weather requirements during this period. This may reduce the time windows in which planes can take off and land, particularly during periods of low visibility such as morning and evening fog.

As a result, delays, changes, or cancellations of flights to and from Ilulissat may occur during this period.

The installation is carried out by Greenland Airports and is outside Air Greenland’s control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our passengers.

Thank you for your understanding.

Information to passengers departing early mornings in Nuuk

To help make your journey from Nuuk Airport as smooth as possible, we recommend that you arrive for check-in no earlier than 2 hours before departure.

In the morning hours, there may be waiting time at check-in, as Greenland Airports is, for operational reasons, only able to accept baggage later than usual.

Please use the self-check-in kiosk and attach baggage tags to your bags. Please also have your passport or other valid identification ready.

Queues may form at security, so passengers on the earliest departures are kindly asked to go to security first when it opens.

Thank you for your help, and we wish you a pleasant journey.
