Operational updates

22. June 2026

Strong winds in Nuuk yesterday led to the cancellation of the majority of scheduled flights to and from Nuuk. The weather conditions also meant that Air Greenland’s Airbus A330neo, Tuukkaq, was unable to land in Nuuk and therefore had to return to Copenhagen.

To ensure that affected passengers can continue their journeys, Air Greenland has arranged additional capacity in collaboration with Jettime, which is flying passengers from Copenhagen to Nuuk today. However, delays may still occur on onward journeys within the domestic network, as capacity on several flights is limited. Some passengers have therefore been rebooked onto flights later this week.

Limited hotel capacity in Ilulissat and Nuuk

Hotel capacity is limited in both Ilulissat and Nuuk. This means that Air Greenland is unfortunately unable to offer hotel accommodation to all affected travellers.

We therefore urge travellers to arrange their own accommodation. Hotel expenses can subsequently be claimed for a refund by submitting a receipt to Air Greenland’s customer service via the contact form. https://kundeservice.airgreenland.gl/hc/da/requests/new

Please note that it may take a few weeks to process refund applications.

Affected travellers in Ilulissat can collect meal vouchers at the airport, whilst affected travellers in Nuuk will receive digital meal vouchers until their departure.

We are aware that this may affect travellers’ plans, and we apologise for this.

We are working to ensure that everyone reaches their destinations.

Kind regards,

Air Greenland

Information about air traffic to and from Ilulissat in the period 15 June – 31 July

Greenland Airports is currently installing a new antenna at Ilulissat Airport during the period from week 25 to week 31 (15 June – 31 July).

This work means that Air Greenland’s Dash 8 aircraft will need to operate under stricter weather requirements during this period. This may reduce the time windows in which planes can take off and land, particularly during periods of low visibility such as morning and evening fog.

As a result, delays, changes, or cancellations of flights to and from Ilulissat may occur during this period.

The installation is carried out by Greenland Airports and is outside Air Greenland’s control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our passengers.

Thank you for your understanding.

Information to passengers departing early mornings in Nuuk

To help make your journey from Nuuk Airport as smooth as possible, we recommend that you arrive for check-in no earlier than 2 hours before departure.

In the morning hours, there may be waiting time at check-in, as Greenland Airports is, for operational reasons, only able to accept baggage later than usual.

Please use the self-check-in kiosk and attach baggage tags to your bags. Please also have your passport or other valid identification ready.

Queues may form at security, so passengers on the earliest departures are kindly asked to go to security first when it opens.

Thank you for your help, and we wish you a pleasant journey.
